Changing Jobs

Why do the automotives companies work so much overtime? Plants will work overtime and then a month later shut down for two weeks and not make a thing... I want to change my job and work in scheduling. Those guys are idiots.

I am sure sales and orders have something to do with the answer, but I still think they are idiots.
